Turn Your Favourite Tiles into Handmade Custom Rugs
As much as we love rugs here at Rug Your Life, we certainly love beautiful unique tiles as well.
Why not combine both?
Growing up in a Modernist flat in Barcelona, Spain, gorgeous tiles have marked my life steps. So it is no surprise that I would think of historical and special tiles as a wonderful design for our custom rugs.
Which tiles marked your steps, either in your home or during a memorable trip?
Here we show you the most varied design layouts from one tiles picture. Let us know what inspires you!
Design Idea #1
Here is the original picture. Would you like to see how the custom rug would look like? Then go ahead and click on the image.
Design Idea #2
Now we have chosen two of the tiles and have created a new layout. We have also cropped the design to three tiles per row. We like how these colours work together and are always happy to create different combinations and change the colours to what suits you best.
Design Idea #3
Speaking of colours, here is the design in a light sepia palette. These soft earthy shades would look very elegant everywhere.
Design Idea #4
This layout shows how different the design becomes with only one single tile in a pattern.
Design Idea #5
Here we are showing you how the design would look like when embossed or carved on the rug pile. Also, the design visualization as shown here combines wool (background) and silk (design elements). With only one colour.
Design Idea #6
Did you know that we create handmade custom felt ball rugs with any design you like as well? Here is one of the tiles as a felt ball rug design. If you click on the image you will be able to enlarge how it would look like.
Unless otherwise stated, our visualizations are in handknotted technique, using wool and a knot count of 150 knots per square inch. Other materials that you could choose from are Chinese and bamboo silk, viscose, nettle, linen, hemp or recycled plastic bottle yarn for indoor-outdoor or all weather rugs. Other techniques we are happy to offer are custom felt ball rugs, custom flatweave rugs and custom handtufted rugs.
